The Garment Technologist supports the Procurement & Logistic Services Branch to ensure that all Police Officers and Staff are equipped with the necessary uniform and special measure items. The post-holder assists training college personnel, helps with student body armour fitting and responds to uniform queries. They liaise with the uniform managed service provider in all aspects of the PSNI uniform and provide materials management with the correct technical information to support acquisitions for specialist units.
On occasions, the post-holder will deputise for the Specification & Quality Assurance Officer. This will require a knowledge of clothing manufacturing, fabrics, size charts and quality assurance, and a well-developed technical knowledge in assessing goods against a technical specification.
The post-holder will have a minimum of three years' experience of quality assurance in clothing manufacture. They will have assessed goods against a technical specification, analysed clothing size charts and have extensive knowledge of fabrics. They can work with a high degree of personal initiative and as part of a team.
They must hold five GCSEs at Grade A-C, including English and Maths, or equivalent. They must have a driver's licence and access to an adequately insured vehicle that allows them to travel throughout Northern Ireland.
