LOOKING TO KICKSTART A CAREER AS A WELDER?
North West Regional College (NWRC) in conjunction with the Department for the Economy are offering an opportunity for 12 individuals to receive industry standard welding training that will provide them with the skills to take up potential welding roles with companies in Derry/Londonderry and the surrounding area.
The participating companies are:
- AE Global Ltd, Maydown, Londonderry;
- Fleming Agri-Products Ltd, Newbuildings, Londonderry;
- SGS NI Ltd, Eglinton, Londonderry;
- EMES Ltd, Derry, Londonderry.
The Academy will last seven weeks in total delivered as follows:
- Monday 1st March 2021 to Friday 2nd April 2021*
– Five weeks classroom based training
- Monday 12th April to Friday 23rd April 2021*
– Two weeks consolidation training in a working environment
*Please note the Welding Academy may be subject to change due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation.
Successful applicants will attend a five week intensive training course at NWRC, Springtown campus in Derry/Londonderry where they will study Level 1 and Level 2 City and Guilds Awards in Welding Skills (3268) and then complete a further 2 weeks consolidation training in a working environment. All participants that complete the training will be guaranteed an interview to take up a welding position at one of the participating companies above.
All applicants must be at least 18 years old by Monday 1st March 2021 and currently eligible to work in the UK.
